The project supported public and private sector efforts to create an enabling environment for mobilising private finance for Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) implementation in Ethiopia. It focused on de-risking investments, addressing institutional barriers, and scaling climate finance to accelerate low-carbon and climate-resilient development.

Assessing Climate Finance Readiness

Conducting a climate finance readiness assessment to support the development of an investment platform and project pipeline aligned with the Ethiopia IKI MI workplan.

Identifying Institutional & Capacity Gaps

Assessing barriers within key institutions, including the Ethiopian Energy Authority (EEA) and Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU), that constrain access to climate finance and the development of bankable low-carbon energy projects.

Designing De-Risking & Financing Solutions

Providing technical guidance on de-risking instruments and innovative off-grid financing and business models to improve the commercial viability of mini-grid investments.
