Gender Technical Assistance to Ethiopia’s EPI (Expanded Programme on Immunisation) to Identify and Overcome Gender-related Barrier

This project aims to provide gender-responsive technical assistance to Ethiopia's immunisation programme to strengthen equitable vaccine access and address gender-based barriers to immunisation at federal and regional levels, particularly in Oromia and Afar. It supports the design, implementation, and monitoring of gender-transformative interventions under GAVI's Full Portfolio Planning framework.

Embedding Gender-Responsive Approaches in Immunisation Systems

Deploying embedded gender advisors, conducting gender analyses, and integrating gender-responsive planning and monitoring to address barriers faced by caregivers, adolescents, and health workers, while strengthening women's participation in health decision-making.

Strengthening Institutional & Community Capacity

Building long-term capacity through training, mentoring, and peer learning, while partnering with local civil society organisations like Afar Pastoralist Development Association to ensure context-responsive implementation and sustainable institutional ownership.

Generating Evidence & Good Practices

Developing case studies, operational guidance, and documentation of best practices to support learning and inform gender-responsive immunisation programming under Gavi 6.0.
